How to Choose a Quran Reciter for a Video

What to listen for when choosing a recitation for a Quran video — style, pace, audio quality and timestamps — and how to load it.

The recitation is the heart of the video. A few practical points help you choose one that suits the passage and the format.

Where the reciters come from

In the Audio tab, Online Recitations shows the chapter recitations Quran Foundation provides for the surah you selected. The list changes with the surah, because not every reciter has recorded every surah. Each entry shows the style (for example Murattal or Mujawwad) and the qira’ah when the provider lists them.

Style and pace

  • Murattal recitations are measured and steady — easy to follow with on-screen text and a good fit for short reels.
  • Mujawwad recitations are slower and more melodic, with longer pauses — beautiful for longer, reflective videos, but a short passage will take more time.

Timestamps save time

After loading, the Audio tab tells you whether Provider timestamps are available for your ayahs. If they are, the timing is ready immediately and word highlight may be possible. If not, you can still sync with Auto Sync or Tap to Sync.

Your own recording

Upload Audio accepts MP3, WAV and M4A up to 60 MB and 15 minutes. Only use recordings you have permission to use, and credit the reciter — the Effects tab can show the reciter’s name on the video.
